When asked if I would work on this gorgeous Bowie, I couldn’t pass it up. The handle is unique and the texture is stunning. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. David Durr at Durr Knives is the owner of this beauty and it was impressive before I started on it.

I thought about the type of rack the animal must have had to have in order to get this texture. This was an old animal who has seen quite a few winters and survived many fights. It was an honor to depict him in the end of the handle. Full rack, standing at attention, ears forward and listening. You don’t get to be this old if you are not alert and quick on your feet.

I detailed in an antler scrimshaw on the side just beside the hilt in a white patch which provided the perfect background for the engraving. The hilt is hand engraved with deer tracks. Each hoof print is painted black for a deep contrast to the brass hilt.

Thank You David Durr for allowing me to work on this magnificent piece! It was a pleasure!!
