Shrine Ring

Not everything turns out the way you want. This ring started off as a fantastic monogram ring.

The husband came to my store looking for a special gift for his adored wife. He described what he wanted and I drew a sketch. Made changes as he reviewed it until it was his perfect gift.

I set to work on the ring which was to have her initial engraved into the center with detailing down the sides. When he saw the finished ring he was ecstatic!

Unfortunately, she was not. When I said I would change anything she wanted, it basically turned into a completely different ring (stay tuned for the “reveal” after I finish the ring).

Now the dilemma, what to do with this ring? Reaching into my bag of tricks, I felt it would be a perfect Shrine ring with a few changes. It needed to be a bit more masculine to start.

The ring is 14k yellow gold with engraved scrolls and milgrain, on a ground pattern darkened with black enamel giving the design a nice contrast. I carved the scimitar from 14k white gold, inset a ruby and diamond. (Who doesn’t love a bit of bling?)

I’m happy with the way it all turned out and it made a great Shrine Ring!
