This is a Colt Gold Cup Trophy Model 1911 and the customer had seen one of my guns at a gun show and then they showed up out of the blue with the Colt and wanted to know if I could engrave it.
He wanted some gold inlay so all the lettering on the Colt Gold Cup is now 24 karat gold and then, of course, I did all the engraving on the slide. He actually brought it in later and had me put more engraving on the back strap as well.
There is also a gold medallion with a Colt pony engraved on it. He had me carve out a disc in the back and inlay 24 karat gold, then carve the horse into the 24 karat gold!
